Location: Jamnagar, Gujarat

Client: Jamnagar Municipal Corporation (JMC) Casad Services: Design and Project Management Consultancy (PMC)

Project Overview This landmark project is the construction of Saurashtra's longest flyover, a four-lane elevated corridor designed to significantly decongest traffic in Jamnagar city.

  • Total Length: 3,744.52 m (or ~3.75 km), comprising 3,235.52 m of elevated viaduct and 509 m of approach ramps.

  • Key Function: The flyover provides a seamless, high-speed connection between Subhash Bridge and Sat Rasta Circle, bypassing and resolving chronic congestion at four major urban junctions (including Sat Rasta Circle, Gurudwara Junction, Narmada Circle, and Nagnath Junction).

  • Impact: Significantly improves urban mobility towards key economic and religious destinations like Dwarka, the oil refineries (Reliance/Nayara), GSFC, and Rajkot Road.

Casad's Scope of Work The scope involved providing comprehensive technical and management oversight for the entire construction of this multi-faceted elevated flyover, integrating complex geometry at key intersections:

Structural Design & Engineering:

  • Total length of bridge is 3744.52 m ( 3235.52 viaduct Portion & 509m approach portion) & 3244.52m service road, 1.2 m Dia RCC Piles and Open Foundation system.

  • Design of the RCC Substructure (Pier, Pier Cap, RC Pier & Portal Pier Cap).

  • Design of the advanced Post-Tensioned PSC Voided Slab Superstructure (25.0m and 40.0m spans) and integral structures like the elevated rotary (Y & V junctions) and 2-cell vehicular underpass.

Project Management Consultancy (PMC):

  • Technical and administrative supervision of the entire construction process.

  • Quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) for the materials and execution, including the post-tensioning process and bearing installation.

  • Schedule management, risk assessment, and coordination between the client (JMC) and the executing contractor.

  • Ensuring adherence to all urban planning regulations, safety standards, and project specifications for the flyover and integrated service roads.

Capabilities in Action

This project demonstrates proficiency in executing large-scale, intricate urban transport infrastructure projects from design to final supervision:

  • Integrated Design & Management: Proven ability to handle both the Structural Design and the Project Management Consultancy roles, ensuring the constructability and quality of the complex design.

  • Advanced PSC Technology: Expertise in designing and supervising the implementation of Post-Tensioned Prestressed Concrete (PSC) Voided Slabs. This structural system optimizes weight and allows for long, efficient spans (25.0m and 40.0m), which is critical for urban flyovers.

  • Complex Junction Engineering: Capability in the detailed design and construction supervision of highly complex geometric structures, including the elevated rotary with specialized 'Y' and 'V' junctions and an integrated vehicular underpass.

  • Urban Infrastructure Development: Demonstrated success in delivering a high-impact infrastructure project that required sensitive management within a densely populated urban setting, including the integration of service roads and public parking facilities.
